ERASMUS+ visit in Poland
RAPORT

Three schools that work together on building their own Greenpower electric cars (Goblin and F 24 cars) while incorporating literacy, numeracy and STEM subjects met together on their first exchange visit in Gliwice, Poland on January 9th – 16 th. There were 10 students, 3 teachers from the Sacred Heart College, Northern Ireland, 14 students, 2 teachers from Colegio Europeo Aristos, Spain and students and teachers from Szkoła Podstawowa z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi nr 6 im.Noblistów Polskich, Poland. The Irish and Spanish students were accommodated in the hotels which might seem a kind of problem with integration of groups but it was solved by common activities and all day trips the students took part in. On the first day all students had some integration and cooperation activities at school and in the local palm house where they worked together in mixed groups on some tasks prepared by their Polish peers. It allowed them to “break the ice” and get to know each other. During the exchange trips to the coal, silver mines, students have opportunity to learn about one of the typical industries of Silesian region. They visited some important historical and cultural objects, such as Memorial Museum Auschwitz – Birkenau, Cracow and regional places. They also visited laboratories of the Silesian University of Technology where they learned about the equipment and spent some time on a car simulator there. Unfortunately, the students couldn’t visit Opel or Fiat factories (despite the efforts to arrange their visit there) as nobody is allowed to stay on industrial premises unless they are 16. This first visit enabled students to learn some facts about historical , cultural and industrial background of their project partner, get to know each other personally, make some friends and thus create a network of cooperation.
